Getting There

Fly into Humberto Delgado Airport (LIS). We recommend TAP, Delta, or SATA — all offer nonstop flights from Boston.

Alternatively, fly into Porto (OPO) and take the train south — about 2.5–3 hours.

Passport reminder: must be valid for at least 6 months upon EU entry.

Friday · June 6

Breakfast is included at Hotel Alegria. The welcome event starts at 6:00 PM — plan your own late lunch and dinner around 9:00 PM. Festa Santos Populares should be lively with music, food, and drinks into the night — that's where we're heading after the welcome event!

Saturday · June 7

Wedding Day! Buses leave at 3:45 PM. Snacks and appetizers will be served throughout the pre-ceremony and cocktail events, followed by a seated dinner. We recommend having a solid lunch to keep you going through the afternoon.

Sunday · June 8

We anticipate folks might be a little groggy — and we know this is a travel day for many! Breakfast is included at Hotel Alegria, and we'll host a casual farewell lunch at the Quiosque outside Hotel Alegria at 1:00 PM.

Good to
know

Portugal is a special place for both of us. Alex is first generation Portuguese-American — most of her family lives in Guarda, in the Beira Alta region. She spent summers in her grandparent's village of Carvalheda with her sister Sophia and cousins Pedro and Rafael. Our journey together in Portugal began with a spontaneous Valentine's Day trip in February 2020, when Max met Alex's grandmother in Carvalheda. Since then, we've returned many times and embraced its culture at home — cheering on the national soccer team, enjoying the cuisine, and falling more in love with this country. We're beyond excited to share it with all of you!
Garden Party Formal — formal attire with a relaxed outdoor vibe. Ladies: a floor-length or midi dress in a floral print or fun solid color. Guys: a light-colored suit or blazer. You'll be on grassy lawns and uneven terrain, so leave stilettos at home — low block heels or flats are ideal. Please do not wear white, cream, or ivory!

Something chic and comfortable! For ladies: a cocktail dress or linen pants with an elegant top. For men: pants with a button-down shirt and an optional blazer. Please refrain from wearing denim!
We hope you take the provided vans from Hotel Alegria at 3:45 PM. If using your own transportation, allow about 1 hour for traffic. The venue is within a private estate — it's a 10-minute drive from the main road entrance to the actual venue entrance. Make sure your driver uses the correct address. Security will be at the gate. For questions, contact Herdade do Peru directly at +351 962836339.

The ceremony and reception will take place outdoors. We'll supply parasols and create plenty of shade. The ceremony begins at 6:00 PM, and a typical June sunset in Portugal is around 9:00 PM. If you tend to burn, please bring face sunscreen!
As much as we love your little ones, if their names were not included on the invite, they are not invited to the welcome event or wedding day. If you're traveling with kids, we can help arrange a babysitting service at the hotel. Send us a note if your kids will be traveling with you.
We've created a WhatsApp group to keep everyone in the loop! If you don't have WhatsApp, please download it ahead of time. Join the group chat →
Pack light! Lisbon is very warm during the day and comfortable at night. Be aware that the limestone sidewalks in the city center can be very slippery — pack sneakers or sandals with traction. Currency is Euros, but you can pay for almost everything by card. Taxis tend to prefer cash, so it's good to have a few euros on hand.
Not included in your hotel stay, but Inês from Hotel Alegria can coordinate car service to/from the airport. Both taxis and Ubers are plentiful at LIS — there's a dedicated Uber pickup in the parking garage, similar to Logan Airport. Watch the Uber pickup video →

Your presence
